Excellent game, great lighting effects.
I was impressed by this game from the start. The whole concept of scavenging around Chernobyl is really cool. As with all games, there are pros and cons: Pros: Amazing lighting. Crisp, well defined shadows from sources such as flashlight, sun, lightning. A flashlight that doesn't run out of batteries. I loath how all other games have 30-second flashlights. And again, the lighting from this thing rocks. Very nice ballistic physics. Ricocheting bullets are always a plus. I have seen some bounce twice. Strong AI. These guys are not dumb in battle. They move constantly and find good cover. The see you and know when you can shoot them. Lots of cool guns. 'nuff said. Cons: Really difficult until you get a halfway decent gun. It wasn't until I got a scope for my upgraded AK74/2 that I was really able to pwn the AI. Some might see this as a plus, but I died like 18 times in the first mission I tried. A bit buggy. I found a number of bugs in some of the short optional missions. Nothing big. The NPCs also like to kill themselves while sitting around fires by sitting in them. Not a big deal, but it annoys me. Lightning slows graphics. Alot. The shadows cast by the lightning as it streaks across the sky move across the ground as well, eating graphical processing power. Altogether, this game is really cool, and I'm glad I bought it.

Soldier Of Fortune Fans Rejoince!
What can I say, this game is late as summer right about now. Remember SOF2? If your like me and miss the kind of action and fast paced realistic shooter that new games seam to lack, this one is for you. They said from the start that this game would bring that back, thats one of the reasons the developer decided to retail this game at the discount price we all miss, from day one. Watch out for me online, i'll be looking for you all.

a huge, very atmospheric game
This game is extremely large. Tons of side quests you can fulfill or not at your discression. Lots of mods available to alter the look of the game and the gameplay. Many endings are possible depending on the path you choose toward the end and in some cases, how you have played the game to that point. I didn't think I would enjoy the game when I saw the videos, but I was amazed at how fun it was. Sometimes dark and creepy, sometimes bright and sunny. Sometimes a corridor crawl, sometimes a group assault. A really well done game, I look forward to the prequel.
