Overview
It's been three years since James Sunderland's wife became seriously ill and passed away. James has tried to pull himself together and resume his life after the loss but the emotional pain and emptiness leaves the widower in a constant state of mourning.

One day, a cryptic letter arrives signed by Mary, the same name as his late wife. The letter bids James to go to "Silent Hill, our sanctuary of memories... I will be waiting for you there."

"Our sanctuary of memories - what does that mean? This place is too full of memories"

Perplexed and unnerved by the mysterious letter, James wonders if Mary could somehow be alive, or if someone is playing a hoax on him.

"I still don't believe it. The dead can't send letters, yet I came here to find my Mary..."

Driven by a desire to uncover the truth, James sets off for the small town of Silent Hill, a ghostly place shrouded in fog and mystery. Finding the only road to the center of town blocked, James discovers a map showing a single path leading through the forest and into Silent Hill and sets out to meet his fate...

"I look at the man in the mirror and wonder... Mary, could you really be in this town?"

In order to uncover the truth about his late wife Mary, James has returned to Silent Hill, a place that he quickly finds is not as unpopulated as it seems. As James ventures deeper into town, he encounters a series of increasingly vile creatures with which he must battle.

But fighting off monsters is only part of the challenge that awaits him, throughout his quest, a series of perplexing puzzles halt his progress. If James can persevere, and overcome these obstacles, information regarding the origins of the mysterious letter, and possibly even darker secrets, might be revealed.

Set in dense fog and haunting darkness accompagnied by dramatic music in Dolby Surround sound, Silent Hill 2 (PC) pushes the boundaries of macabre horror.

Advanced technological and original designs allow for such features as intense visual expressions of the characters, eerie weather conditions and dramatic gore making the game extremely frightening.

Players face over 10 types of enemies and have access to a variety of shooting and striking weapons, including the pistol and steel pipe found in previous (console) editions.

Dolby 5.1 Surround sound. New save game system allows the player to save their game at any time. High-resolution graphics only possible on PC including up to 1600x1200 resolution. Bonus chainsaw weapon immediatly available at lower difficulty levels.

Unlock cutscene movies and play them back at any time in the "Movies Menu". New "Hot Keys" including Reload, Health and Weapon keys that allow the player to use inventory items directly without going to the inventory screen.

"Controls Menu" allows the player to bind any function to any key or gamepad button. All gamepads are supported, including digital pads and analog sticks.

"QuickSave" and "QuickLoad" keys allows the player to save their game without going to the Save Game Menu. Includes special sneak preview trailers of Silent Hill 3.
